WHAT KIND OF VOLUNTEER JOBS ARE THERE?
VIDA is guided by AusAID priorities in sourcing volunteer assignments. Below are some examples of the kinds of assignment roles sourced in different sectors.
Education: Curriculum Development, Research (Science) Varies from University to pre-school. Teacher training. – Not just teaching. Enhancing systems and teaching standards.
Environment: Environmental Management/Engineering/related project work – eg. Aquaculture & Mekong River Dolphins previously Orangutans & Species conservation (research)
Gender: Gender/Social research
Governance: Broad sector that encompasses Accountancy, Business Management, Law/Legal and regulatory framework, Public Administration, Small Business Development,
Communications (media, journalism, library/information management, marketing, tourism), Community Development (youth development work, social work, arts/community theatre), and Project Management (project officers/assistants, with NGOs) Admin based but within dynamic and interesting organisations.
Health: Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Community Health Work, Health Related Project Work Could be within scientific areas like audiology. Health promotion and public health.
Infrastructure: Engineering (civil/mechanical), Information Technology, Urban Planning, Architecture
Rural Development: Agriculture, Marine Science, Veterinary Science, Natural Resource Management, Forestry
Trades based assignments: eg Engineer in Vietnam, Carpenter Advisor in PNG
