What are the benefits of being a HO?
Participating in the VIDA Program allows HOs to:
- Have skilled VIDA Volunteers to work on your projects
- Build the capacity of your organisation through improved systems and processes
- Provide staff with the opportunity to gain professional knowledge and experience
- Be recognised for involvement through the VIDA website and magazine
What is expected of HOs?
Host Organisations (HOs) are required to provide VIDA Volunteers with an appropriate workspace and any equipment required to fulfil the assignment outcomes. Any work related travel expenses will also be covered by the Host Organisation (including travel, accommodation while travelling for work, and per diems).
HOs are expected to make a commitment to childsafe environments and selection processes.
HOs are strongly encouraged to make financial or in-kind contributions to support the volunteer placement. The contributions made by HOs demonstrate their commitment to supporting the volunteer and achieving assignment outcomes. They also allow the VIDA Program to send extra volunteers over and above the number funded by AusAID. The VIDA Program understands that not all organisations will be in a financial position to provide extensive support and contributions will be assessed on a case by case basis.
