What is VIDA?

VIDA is an Australian Government program that places skilled Australian volunteers in developing countries in the Asia Pacific region. VIDA volunteers work with local people to share knowledge, develop sustainable skills and build the capacity of communities and their environments in line with Australian Government priorities and the Millennium Development Goals.

Who funds and manages VIDA?

VIDA is funded by the Australian Government's overseas aid agency, AusAID as part of the Australian Volunteer Program. The program also includes Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development (AYAD), Australian Business Volunteers (ABV) and Australian Volunteers International (AVI).

Austraining International (an Adelaide based specialised project management company) with support from its consortium partner the Center for International Studies and Cooperation and World University Service of Canada (CECI/WUSC) manages VIDA, providing strategic planning and administrative services, and managing volunteer placements.
