The youth stream, Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development, places passionate young Australians (18-30) on short-term assignments in developing countries in Asia, the Pacific and Africa. Volunteers work with local counterparts in host organisations to share knowledge and skills. The AYAD Program aims to strengthen mutual understanding between Australia and host countries through making a positive contribution to sustainable development. |
The skilled stream (transitioning from Volunteering for International Development from Australia) mobilises skilled volunteers on long-term assignments across Asia, the Pacific, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. Volunteers work with local counterparts to reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development in the communities in which they work through skills and knowledge exchange which contributes to institution strengthening. |
In partnership with Australian Business Volunteers, the business stream sends experienced business and trade professionals, including the newly retired, on short-term volunteer assignments in the Asia Pacific region. Business volunteers contribute towards the sustainable growth of businesses and communities by strengthening organisational capacity through the transfer of knowledge and workplace skills. |
